Job description

The Health Specialist role involves providing advanced and accurate clinical inquiry responses related to health, disease control, and prevention issues. This includes questions concerning bioterrorism, first responders, and emergency situations, from healthcare professionals, educators, and government agencies.

This position is fully remote.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 11:30 am - 8:00 pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide advanced clinical inquiry responses (verbal and written) to health-related inquiries from consumers, educators, and medical/health professionals, including state and local health departments and government offices.
2. Offer subject matter expertise on CDC topics such as HIV/AIDS, Immunizations, Environmental Health, NIOSH, Tuberculosis, and Statistics.
3. Perform advanced database searches and compose reports, documents, and correspondence.
4. Document all inquiries and participate in special projects as required.
5. Respond to inquiries related to current events like food outbreaks and natural disasters.
6. Adhere to quality assurance measures in all work.
7. Respond effectively to medical personnel and clinicians in verbal and written formats.

Additional Requirements:

• This position is BYOD; personal devices are required for training (tablets, iPads, and Chromebooks are not permitted).
• High School diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years of experience; additional training or education in relevant fields is a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with current RN license is required.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, both spoken and written.
• Experience in medical, scientific, and public health disciplines.
• Proficient internet search skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, organize tasks, and demonstrate leadership skills.

Home Office Requirements:

• Internet speed of at least 20 Mbps, with 50 Mbps recommended for shared connections.
• Minimum 5 Mbps upload speed.
• Reliable internet connection via Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable.
• Private workspace and adequate power supply.
• Reside permanently in the Continental US.
