Job summary

Bethany is seeking a Medical Coordinator to coordinate health services for children in care, maintain confidential medical records, and serve as a liaison with clinicians and insurers. The role emphasizes compassionate service, confidentiality, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include scheduling, transportation coordination, eligibility checks, and resource provision upon discharge. On-site work in Reading, PA, with potential travel and after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year in public health or healthcare with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care.
• LPN/LVN or RN with a bachelor’s degree, or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have an ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service.
• Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.
• Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany.
• Must pass a TB test and document preference to receive Hepatitis immunization.
• Must show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route.

Responsibilities

• Arrange and coordinate appropriate health services, including urgent, emergent, and preventive services for children in care, maintaining complete medical records and communicating health needs to case managers and clinicians.
• Schedule health care appointments and coordinate transportation to health care appointments.
• Maintain medical files in Program Portal and ensure records are updated.
• Formulate treatment authorization requests to insurers for refugee clients.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for Point Comfort Underwriters Insurance through ongoing collaboration.
• Provide resources and discharge reports.
• Ensure documentation and filing compliance with all required forms and licensing.
• Reconcile billing issues to prevent profit loss.
• May participate in on-call to assist shelter staff after hours as needed.
• Stay updated on federal and state regulatory requirements related to social services.
• Travel to health care facilities to build relationships with providers.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
