Job summary

North Coast Opportunities, Inc. in Ukiah, California, seeks a Head Start Cook to manage daily food service for one or more sites in compliance with CCFP and HS standards.

You will plan and prepare meals and snacks, coordinate with teachers on nutrition activities, and ensure safety and sanitation. This role requires English proficiency and the ability to work with diverse families; occasional bilingual tasks for Spanish speakers may be required.

Qualifications

• Must complete 3 ECE/CDV or Nutrition/Culinary units within 12 months of being hired.
• Level II/III require 6 ECE/CDV units or 6 units in Nutrition, Culinary or related field.
• ServSafe Food Handler or Manager certification is preferred.
• Infant and Child CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare meals and snacks using provided menus and CCFP guidelines.
• Purchase and transport groceries and supplies within budgetary limits.
• Maintain inventory of food and supplies, including disaster food and substitutes.
• Ensure meals and snacks are served on schedule and appealing to children.
• Maintain sanitary kitchen environment with scheduled cleaning duties.
• Provide nutritional information and recipes to parents; update nutrition bulletin board monthly.
• Assist in classroom for staff reliefs or substitutes as needed.
