Job summary

Chicago Children's Advocacy Center is seeking a Bilingual Forensic Interviewer in Chicago, IL. This full-time role offers a salary range of $60,000.00 to $76,000.00 annually and involves conducting developmentally appropriate forensic interviews of child victims, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and supporting DEIAB initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Five years’ experience working with children and adolescents required.
  • Training in nationally recognized forensic interview models (NCAC, NICHD, ChildFirst, APSAC, Cornerhouse) or completion of 40 hours of training prior to interviewing.

  • Conduct developmentally appropriate and legally defensible forensic interviews of children and adolescents alleging abuse or other crimes.
  • Work collaboratively with ChicagoCAC’s multidisciplinary team.
  • Facilitate pre/post-interview multidisciplinary case staffing.
  • Enter forensic interview data into ETO in a timely manner.
  • Operate recording equipment on site and mobile.
  • Participate in monthly MDT Case Review.
  • Respond to subpoenas and participate in court proceedings as required.
  • Available for on-call when scheduled.
  • Attend supervision, peer review, and professional development activities (webinars, education calls, literature review).
  • Participate in meetings, training and supervision as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Bilingual Forensic Interviewer

Salary Range: $60,000.00 To $76,000.00 Annually

Responsibility Summary

In supporting the mission of ChicagoCAC, the Bilingual Forensic Interviewer conducts forensic interviews of victims of child sexual abuse and assault, as well as other crimes and exposure to violence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate recording equipment (onsite and mobile).

Discretion

The Bilingual Forensic Interviewer has a low-level range of discretion and independent decision-making.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Relationships

The Bilingual Forensic Interviewer works closely with the Forensic Interviewing Supervisor, Director of MDT Coordination, Investigative Services team, Advocacy team, and ChicagoCAC multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Minimum educational requirements of Bachelor’s degree in a human service field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous training in one or more nationally recognized, evidence based forensic interview models/protocols (NCAC, NICHD, ChildFirst, APSAC, Cornerhouse) required or must complete 40 hours of nationally recognized forensic interview training prior to conducting interviews.
  • Five years’ experience working with children and adolescents required.

Forensic Interviewers will undergo a training period at ChicagoCAC that will consist of literature review, observation, and mock interviews. The training period will vary based on individual competency and previous experience. The Chief Program Officer of Advocacy & Investigations and Forensic Interviewer Supervisor will determine when the training period is completed and the interviewer is deemed as equipped to conduct interviews on his/her own.
