Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is seeking a maintenance assistant to help ensure the building is clean and sanitary for staff and visitors, including Chapel and office areas.

Responsibilities include cleaning restrooms, general janitorial tasks, trash removal, floor care, minor repairs, and following instructions with minimal supervision. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) and have experience with disadvantaged populations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and write in English and Spanish.
• Experience working with a disadvantaged population is necessary.
• Ability to stand and move for long periods.
• Familiarity with basic cleaning equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

• The maintenance personnel report to Officers regarding janitorial and facility issues.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms in both office and chapel areas.
• Maintain clean public areas and workspaces as assigned.
• Empty trash from kitchen as needed.
• Keep floors cleaned, waxed, mopped, and vacuumed as directed.
• Perform minor repairs as assigned.
• Carry out other duties as needed by Officers.
• Demonstrate ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Maintain client confidentiality and professionalism with staff and visitors.
