Job summary

Norfolk Public School District is seeking an ESL Family Engagement Specialist to support multilingual families and bridge home and school collaboration. This full‑time, grant-funded role involves home visits, parent workshops, and coordinating resources across district sites to improve ESL outcomes.

You will work under the supervision of Curriculum & Instruction and Senior Coordinator of Foreign Language and ESL, requiring fluency in English and Spanish, an Associate’s Degree or ParaPro, and

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in English and Spanish.
• Requires an Associate’s Degree or ParaPro test.
• Two years of related experience; customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Liaise between student, home, school and community resources.
• Plan activities to enhance parent involvement and school climate.
• Provide information in multiple languages to support ESL and immigrant youth.
• Coordinate with administrators to implement parent involvement programs.
• Meet with students and families to set educational goals and supports.
• Connect families to intra-district and community resources.
• Track EL academic achievement, attendance and drop‑out rates.
• Provide community resources to support students and families.
• Attend workshops and trainings to improve job performance.
• Support division communication with families regularly.
• Conduct home visits and guide parents on helping children meet standards.
• Assist in ESL program presentations and state assessments.
• Coordinate tutors, mentors and volunteers to reinforce skills.
• Model non‑discriminatory practices in all activities.
