Job summary

Washington Heights & Inwood Music Community Charter School (WHIN) is seeking ENL teachers to create a fun, engaging, inclusive classroom culture and provide integrated instruction within an inclusive program.

You will assess ELL status, administer language surveys and NYSITELL/NYSESLAT when needed, differentiate instruction, collaborate on a co-teaching model, and build strong relationships with WHIN families.

Qualifications

• Certified in ELL/ESL instruction (NYS or equivalent).
• Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English required.
• Experience teaching urban elementary students preferred.
• Proven track record raising achievement for diverse learners.
• Strong belief that all students can achieve at a high level.
• Ability to thrive in a startup school environment.
• Collaborative, kind, and supportive colleague.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain an engaging, inclusive classroom culture where all students love to learn.
• Provide integrated instruction in an inclusive classroom with diverse learners.
• Develop high-quality, accessible lesson plans for all students.
• Assess ELL status on ATS and administer home language surveys as needed.
• Administer NYSITELL and NYSESLAT assessments when required.
• Differentiate instruction to support each learner’s needs and drive academic outcomes.
• Collaborate with colleagues to implement an effective inclusive co-teaching model.
• Support colleagues in working with ENL students and families.
• Inspire students and staff to achieve at their highest potential.
• Build strong, professional relationships with WHIN families.
