Job summary

Prep Academy Tutors of Los Angeles seeks dedicated bilingual tutors to support K–8 students in English and Spanish. The role focuses on one-on-one instruction tailored to each student’s needs, learning style, and goals.

Ideal candidates include certified teachers, experienced educators, graduate students, or subject-matter experts who aim to build confidence and measurable academic growth in bilingual and Spanish-speaking students. In-home tutoring across Los Angeles is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Fluency in both Spanish and English.
• Strong subject-matter expertise in elementary or middle school areas.
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience with elementary/middle school students.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Experience with bilingual or multilingual students preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one academic tutoring to elementary and middle school students (K–8).
• Deliver instruction in core subjects (Math, English Language Arts, Reading, Science, Social Studies).
• Teach in English and Spanish as appropriate to the student.
• Develop individualized learning plans based on needs and assessments.
• Track progress and share updates with families.
• Travel to students' homes within the Los Angeles area.

Position Overview

Prep Academy Tutors of Los Angeles is seeking dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate Bilingual Elementary and Middle School Tutors/Teachers to support students in grades K–8.

Our tutors provide personalized, one-on-one instruction tailored to each student’s academic needs, learning style, and goals. We are specifically seeking educators who are fluent in both Spanish and English and can effectively support bilingual and Spanish-speaking students across a variety of academic subjects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one academic tutoring to elementary and middle school students in grades K–8
• Provide instruction in core subjects, including Math, English Language Arts, Reading, Science, Social Studies, and/or other academic areas
• Deliver instruction in English and Spanish as appropriate to the student’s needs
• Support bilingual and Spanish-speaking students in developing academic skills and confidence

• Differentiate instruction based on each student’s learning style, strengths, and areas for improvement
• Track student progress and provide regular updates to families

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Fluency in both Spanish and English
• Strong subject-matter expertise in one or more elementary or middle school academic areas
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience with elementary and/or middle school students
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners
• Experience working with bilingual or multilingual students is preferred
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Patient, compassionate, and encouraging approach to working with students
• Reliable transportation
• Authorized to work in the United States

Schedule & Availability

Tutors create schedules based on their availability and student demand. Sessions may take place after school, evenings, and/or weekends.

Requirements

A qualified applicant will have a bachelor’s degree and will also meet at least one of the following criteria:

• You hold a valid California teaching certificate or the equivalent thereof
• You are a current student teacher pursuing a teaching certificate
• You have 2 or more years of experience as a classroom teacher in a private, public, or charter school
• You have experience as a lecturer/course instructor at an accredited U.S. university or college
• You are a Master’s/PhD student with experience as a teaching assistant at an accredited U.S. university or college
• You have 2 or more years of experience tutoring elementary and/or middle school students
• You have demonstrated experience working with bilingual or Spanish-speaking students

Fluency in both Spanish and English is required for this position.
