Job summary

York City School District is hiring a Full-Time Bilingual Teacher Aide at William Penn Senior High School to support English learners in the classroom. The role includes assisting EL teachers, reinforcing concepts, and providing small-group instructional support.

The ideal candidate will be bilingual (Spanish and/or Haitian Creole), possess an associate degree or 45 college credits (or pass the Master Teacher Test), and have strong written and spoken English/Spanish/Creole communication.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 45 college credits; or pass the Master Teacher Test.
• Must be bilingual and/or multilingual (Spanish and/or Haitian Creole preferred).
• Strong written and oral skills in Spanish and/or Haitian Creole and English.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in the classroom by carrying out duties assigned by EL teachers and/or Regular Education teachers as it relates to ELs.
• Reinforce concepts and skills introduced by the classroom teacher.
• Provide small-group instructional support to English Learners.
• Assist teachers with small and large group activities in the classroom.
• Support the teacher in preparing material for the class including making booklets and finding online resources for student projects.
• Assist with administering the WIDA ACCESS test for English learners.
• Accompany teachers or administrators on field trips as approved by the Supervisor of ELD.
• Record classroom attendance and follow up on absence notes as needed.
• Notify the teacher and supervisor in advance of an absence.
• Support interpretation and translation during parent-teacher conferences as directed by the Supervisor of ELD.
• Support with the PSSA/Keystone as language interpreter as directed by the Building administrator.
• Adhere to contractual school schedule (arrival, dismissal, etc).
• Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of ELD or Building Administrator.
