Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program seeks an Education Coordinator for La Jornada to manage an educational center, ensuring safe, nurturing, and structured learning. You will lead instruction aligned with NYAP’s mission and supervise staff to deliver high-quality services to children.

Responsibilities include staff training, curriculum development, parent communication, and compliance with licensing standards while maintaining confidential program records and ongoing program improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required.
  • Experience working with elementary school-age children.
  • Proficient with desktop and mobile devices and common software.

Will ensure the delivery of high-quality instruction that reflects NYAP’s values, culture, and mission, across various mediums and meets funding agency requirements. The Education Coordinator supervises teaching and administrative personnel.RESPONSIBILITIESThe Education Coordinator for La Jornada will perform administrative duties including, but not limited to:Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s Mission, Values and Philosophies.Serve as the educational leader at the assigned site.Ensure that all staff have been provided with the necessary training as required by program to deliver necessary services.Provide on-site management and leadership to the education center for UAC at assigned location. Develops and maintains training needs assessment system for all staff.Ensure curriculum and lesson plans are developed to meet the educational and developmental needs of individual children.Monitor classroom activities to ensure children’s needs are met and to provide support to teaching staff as needed.Ensure children’s progress and services are documented and assessed.Assist with staff selection, orientation and training.Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians and program administration.Ensure nutrition program component meets state and local licensing standards.Ensure all area program records are maintained in a confidential manner and site reports are timely, complete and accurate.Perform all duties in accordance with personnel policies and fiscal guidelines.Perform other duties as requested by the Education Director.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in education from an accredited school.Experience working with elementary school age children .Must currently hold or be eligible for valid state licensure if required and related to job responsibilities.Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.Bilingual (English Spanish). Fluency in Spanish is required.Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/300,000 bodily liability coverage.21 years of age, valid state driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and a good driving record.OTHER SKILLSSome travel is required.Must be open and willing to work non-traditional work hours as well as on-call responsibilities.Provide excellent internal and external customer service.Must possess good verbal, listening, and written communication skillsPHYSICAL DEMANDSUse of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.Ability to travel frequently and drive vehicle while sitting for extended periods, with frequency varying based on program demands.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer who celebrates diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees by prohibiting discrimination and harassment of any kind.
