New Orleans Smiles in Metairie, LA, seeks a skilled Bilingual Expanded Duty Dental Assistant (EDDA) to join the full-time team. You will assist chairside across various procedures, perform EDDA duties, and communicate with English- and Spanish-speaking patients while ensuring safety and quality.

Requirements include active Louisiana EDDA certification, radiography licensure, and 1+ year of dental assisting experience.

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana EDDA certification required.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
• 1+ years dental assisting experience preferred.
• Radiography certification or X-ray licensure required.
• Familiarity with dental practice management software (Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar).
• Strong interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented dental office.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist chairside during a variety of dental procedures including restorations, extractions, and preventive care.
• Perform expanded duty functions as permitted by Louisiana state EDDA certification.
• Communicate effectively with English- and Spanish-speaking patients to explain procedures and post-op instructions.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) following safety protocols.
• Prepare, sterilize, and maintain dental instruments and operatory equipment.
• Record patient medical histories, treatment notes, and updates in dental practice management software.
• Provide compassionate patient education on oral hygiene and treatment plans.
