Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of six (6) units in Child Development or Early Childhood Development.
• Six (6) months of experience in a preschool classroom setting.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, and Food Handlers certifications must be obtained within first two months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom staff in all classroom activities, field trips and outdoor activities including lesson plans.
• Assist in developing materials and providing activities related to the cultural background of the children and families served.
• Help supervise at mealtime, eating with the children to encourage good nutrition and social skills.
• Help keep the classroom clean and orderly.
• Assist the teacher in any aspect of the program as needed.
• Assist with custodial duties: empty trash, sanitize surfaces, and assist in the absence of the custodian.
• Assist driver with bus interior cleanliness and safety checks; maintain records.
• Complete kitchen/dining chores and assist with food service and CACFP records.
• Attend required staff workshops and meetings; perform related duties as assigned.
