Overview
General Position Summary
Company is sized with about 70 employees, has multiple US locations and a Mexico factory (subsidiary) under a Japanese parent company. It belongs to Auto-parts’ manufacturing industry and Aerospace-parts’ distribution industry. The accounting department must operate with top-notch US GAAP knowledge and accuracy across diverse data. The Assistant Accounting Manager candidate must demonstrate GAAP accounting knowledge, audit experience, accounting software/data-management skills, and strong communication with internal and external stakeholders. The role requires high work ethics, including being a self-starter, disciplined, a team player, responsible, reliable, quick learner, multi-tasker, and proactive. The role will be primarily responsible for hands-on data-reporting assignments and verifying the accuracy of co-workers’ data-entry.
Essential Job Functions
- Data and Statement completion. Accounts management. Ad-hoc reports and support.
- Calculating overhead-cost at the final stage of consolidated financial statements close; understand timing, calculation steps, and connection of each account, data management, and finalization of the P/L. Work with condensed financial statements and consolidation package.
- Answer at management level for the reason in financial statements figures.
- Managing Inventory accounts, cost accounting calculation and reconciliation. Learn and build understanding in cost accounting; experience in COST ACCOUNTING at a manufacturing company is PREFERRED.
- Oversee the accuracy of Monthly reconciliations, 360 balance sheet accounts. Complete understanding in reconciliation, improve processes, and optimize ERP data usage.
- Understand needs and prepare reports for Closing, Audit, Tax, Group companies and Budget. Reports or processes may be assigned based on specialty, involvement and understanding.
- Support day-to-day operation of co-workers such as authorization, ad-hoc reports with management, and administrative work with other departments as necessary.
- ERP data modification. Ad hoc report requirements include downloading, modifying, and completing data.
- Learn and upgrade skills with Excel, accounting seminars, and other work-required skills (free online seminars provided).
- Coordinate, plan and execute accounting events such as Year-end, Audit, Tax, Transfer Pricing, ERP development.
- Administrative duties such as records, contracts, meeting filing and saving.
Qualifications
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
- 5+ years of overall accounting experience with a minimum of 5 years of management-level focus in Financial Statement closing, Audit work, Tax work, and ERP development.
Tools & Equipment
- Software includes MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ERP systems (JD Edwards).
Certificates / Licenses
- Accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA or CA), or an equivalent, plus.
