Job summary

Washington State Department of Ecology is seeking a Central Region Community Outreach and Environmental Education Specialist 3 in the Water Quality Program. This role leads engaging learning experiences for residents, connects them to water quality issues, and partners with schools and communities to foster stewardship.

The role supports multilingual outreach, including Spanish interpretation, and emphasizes equitable participation and environmental justice across the Lower Yakima Valley.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years related to outreach and environmental education.
• Ability to translate and interpret information for diverse audiences.
• Experience engaging communities to influence environmental decisions.
• Knowledge of water quality topics and regulatory context.

Responsibilities

• Lead creative, hands‑on learning experiences to inspire community environmental stewardship.
• Design and deliver outreach initiatives making topics accessible and locally relevant.
• Build long‑term relationships with schools, community groups, and partners.
• Create multilingual communications and translate materials into Spanish.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate community outreach while addressing environmental justice needs.
