Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Texas educational aide certificate required before day one
• Two years of college (48 semester hours) or an Associate's degree or equivalent pathway
• Bilingual Spanish required
• Experience with children preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to students under the direction of a teacher; work with individuals or small groups
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and assignments
• Maintain neat and orderly classroom
• Assist with inventory and maintenance of equipment
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare reports
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers
• Supervise students during the school day (lunchroom, bus, playground)
• Notify teacher of special needs or problems of individual students
• Maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development and meetings
