Cashier and Customer Service Associate (Bilingual) Windfern

Founded in 2010, The Ground Up (TGU) is Houston's fastest growing landscape supply company. We manufacture mulches & soils and carry a large selection of base, gravels, and sand products. TGU also operates three re-wholesale nurseries in the Houston Metro Area.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, and assist customers with purchases accurately and efficiently. The candidate should work well in a fast-paced environment, independently or as part of a team. Reliability, flexibility, organization, attention to detail, and a positive attitude are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide prompt and friendly customer service
  2. Process POS transactions accurately and efficiently
  3. Handle credit card, cash, and check transactions, including giving and receiving change
  4. Run daily reports and balance the cash register at close
  5. Answer telephone calls and perform light housekeeping tasks
  6. Gain knowledge of current product lines
  7. Maintain a clean, neat, safe, and secure work area
  8. Perform other duties as needed
Essential Qualifications:
  1. HS diploma or GED
  2. Minimum 1 year of cashier experience
  3. Bilingual skills in Spanish and English
  4. Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook
  5. Professional, confident, and customer-focused
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  7. Basic mathematical skills with attention to detail
  8. Availability to work required hours/days, including Monday to Friday and rotating Saturdays
  9. Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license
Desired Qualifications:
  1. Wholesale experience in a garden center, nursery, or farming
  2. Experience or education in horticulture, agriculture, or related fields
Physical Demands:

Requires frequent use of hands, standing, reaching, and occasional walking, sitting, climbing, or stooping. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision, and focus adjustment.

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather, and loud noise levels.
