The Sherwin-Williams Assistant Manager Trainee Program is an accelerated, entry-level position designed to prepare current employees for a Store Management role in 18-24 months. With Sherwin-Williams' promote-from-within philosophy, you will have the opportunity to progress into an Assistant Store Manager position upon successful completion of the initial 6-8-week training.
This position's typical schedule is 44 hours per week, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
During the program, you will collaborate with store management to oversee a million-dollar business, providing leadership and insight into the development and strategy of that store. You will learn all operations, clients, and internal strategy, understanding the significant role you'll play in the team’s success. You will grow the company's market share by selling to large, commercial users such as painting contractors, purchasing agents, manufacturers, and other commercial clients who require large volumes of our high-quality products.

The role involves customer contact, which may include minors; access to cash, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise, and valuables, with supervision or unsupervised access. A criminal history review is part of our safety measures.
Job duties include supporting business strategies, ensuring customer satisfaction, building product knowledge, maintaining store standards, supporting employee development, resolving complaints, and partnering with the Store Manager for outside sales.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Legally authorized to work without sponsorship
- Valid, unrestricted Driver's License
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and 70 lbs. occasionally, with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Willingness to relocate for future opportunities
- At least one year in retail, sales, or customer service
- Leadership experience supervising or leading teams
- Experience selling paint/products
- Experience with CRM or timekeeping systems
- Associate degree or higher in business, sales, or marketing
- Team-oriented experience (work, extracurricular, military)
- Multilingual abilities, especially in Spanish
