Job summary

Blue Island Recycling, LLC is seeking a dependable Mill Laborer for our Blue Island, Illinois facility on the second shift. This hands-on role supports the hammer mill and shredder operations and involves general labor, material handling, cleanup, and safety compliance.

The ideal candidate is physically capable, safety minded, and able to communicate in Spanish to receive instructions and address safety concerns. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds as required to perform job duties
• Must be dependable and maintain reliable attendance
• Must be able to follow instructions and work safely as part of a team
• Must be able to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying
• Must be fluent in spoken Spanish to communicate effectively about work instructions, coordination, and safety

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor duties in support of hammer mill and shredder operations
• Assist mill personnel with day to day operational tasks as directed
• Communicate directly in Spanish regarding work assignments, workflow, equipment conditions, and safety concerns
• Assist with handling, moving, sorting, and cleaning up material in designated work areas
• Remove loose material, debris, and scrap from designated areas
• Perform routine housekeeping and cleanup around mill work areas
• Keep walkways and designated work areas clean and free of unnecessary debris
• Assist with general mill and yard related labor as needed
• Use hand tools, brooms, shovels, and other basic tools and equipment as assigned
• Follow instructions from supervisors and experienced mill personnel
• Follow all company safety procedures and remain alert to moving equipment, machinery, and other hazards
• Wear required personal protective equipment
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, or other concerns to a supervisor
• Assist other departments or perform other general labor duties as neededPerform other duties as assigned by management
