Qualifications

Al's Sporting Goods | St. George, UT | Full-Time

We are looking for an experienced, proactive, and knowledgeable individual to join our team as the Bike/Ski Department Manager at our St. George location! In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee bike sales, bike service and repairs, and winter sports equipment, spending most of your time as an active, visible leader motivating, coaching, and directing your team.

This position requires strong retail leadership experience, bicycle industry knowledge, and an understanding of service operations, maintenance, and repairs. You will help ensure customers receive exceptional service while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, product knowledge, and overall department performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and motivate employees to achieve department sales, service, and operational goals.
• Oversee bike sales, service, repairs, assembly, and maintenance while ensuring quality and safety standards.
• Oversee winter and water sports merchandise, sales, seasonal readiness, and customer service.
• Provide exceptional customer service, resolve customer concerns, and maintain strong product knowledge across all assigned departments.
• Maintain department merchandising, displays, signage, promotional setups, cleanliness, and organization.
• Monitor sales performance, assist with inventory management, and maintain appropriate stock levels in collaboration with store management.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, employee development, and continuous improvement while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Qualifications

• Previous bicycle repair, maintenance, and assembly experience required; 3-5 years preferred.
• Must have open availability and work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, Sundays, holidays, and all mandatory major sale events.
• Experience managing staff or comparable leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of bicycles, components, and outdoor sports merchandise, including winter and water sports equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and delegate effectively while promoting teamwork and accountability.
• Positive attitude, sense of urgency, and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to lift 50 pounds.
