KBR is seeking a Big Data Systems Engineer to support the Test Resource Management Center’s (TRMC) Big Data (BD) and Knowledge Management (KM) Team, deploying BD and KM systems for DoD testing ranges and acquisition programs.

Job Summary

This is a nationwide, remote-capable position. The candidate can work from home or in one of KBR’s facilities, provided there is a stable internet connection.

The role involves working on the deployment and integration of the CHEETAS data analytic project at multiple DoD ranges and labs, serving as the frontline interface for customer deployment and troubleshooting.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Deploy and integrate CHEETAS at various DoD ranges and labs.
• Coordinate with system administrators and software developers to resolve deployment issues.
• Work within diverse environments, including non-standard hardware and isolated vaults without internet connectivity.

Basic Qualifications

• Active U.S. government TS/SCI clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 10 years of DoD experience; entry-level candidates are not considered.
• Experience with Hadoop, SQL Server Big Data Cluster, Kubernetes, CentOS, Ubuntu, RedHat, Windows Server, VMWare.
• At least five years of hands-on experience in big data environments.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Expertise in deploying and troubleshooting big data ecosystems.
• Strong communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with tools such as Helm Charts, YAML, Kubernetes, NFS, SMB, S3, SQL Server, Linux distributions.
• Ability to learn new processes rapidly and troubleshoot effectively under pressure.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in government/defense labs.
• Experience with DoD programs like JSF, TENA, JMETC.
• Ability to mentor other engineers and knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies.
