Position Overview:

The Big Data Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participating in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct tasks related to feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, IT planning, risk technology, applications development, model development, and establish and implement new or revised applications systems and programs to meet specific business needs or user areas.
  2. Monitor and control all phases of development process including analysis, design, construction, testing, and implementation; provide user and operational support on applications.
  3. Utilize specialty knowledge of applications development to analyze complex problems, evaluate business and system processes, and industry standards.
  4. Recommend and develop security measures post-implementation to ensure system functionality.
  5. Consult with users/clients and other technology groups on issues, recommend programming solutions, and install/support systems.
  6. Ensure procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes.
  7. Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower-level analysts.
  8. Operate with limited supervision, exercise independent judgment, and act as SME to stakeholders and team members.
  9. Assess risks in business decisions, ensure compliance, and escalate/control issues transparently.

Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in Financial Services or regulatory environments.
  2. Experience as Business Analyst with strong analytical skills.
  3. Experience in systems analysis and software application programming.
  4. Knowledge of industry practices and standards.
  5. Understanding of Capital Markets Products (preferred).
  6. Agile/Scrum methodology experience.
  7. Experience with SCMs like GIT and tools like JIRA.
  8. Comfortable working with large data volumes and logical data structures.

Skills & Technologies:

  1. Strong RDBMS experience: Netezza, Sybase, Oracle; SQL (Advanced).
  2. Experience with Big Data HDFS platforms for data analysis.
  3. Ability to write complex SQL for data investigation and migration.
  4. Experience with large Data Warehouses or Lakes (>30TB).
  5. Knowledge in Finance, Risk Management, or Regulatory Reporting.
  6. Excellent communication skills, including Excel data presentation.
  7. Passion for delivering results in complex environments.
  8. Ability to work with global teams.

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
