Job description

Join us as a BIA Wholesale Credit Risk VP and help drive the delivery of audits that support the bank’s standards and regulatory requirements. In this role, you’ll collaborate across teams to evaluate credit risk processes and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures. You will bring insight and leadership to complex risk assessments while mentoring team members and engaging senior stakeholders. This is an opportunity to contribute to a high-impact audit function in a fast-paced global investment environment.

To be successful as a BIA Wholesale Credit Risk VP, you should have experience with:

  • Experience in wholesale credit risk and audit
  • Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to stakeholders
  • Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills to deliver practical, data-driven solutions

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Proven project management skills, including managing timelines, teams, and senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of structured credit, prime brokerage, and lending products within investment banking
  • Familiarity with audit tools and systems, and the ability to interrogate and analyze large data sets

This role is located in New York.

Minimum Salary: $160,000

Maximum Salary: $210,000

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

Purpose of the role

To support the development of audits aligned to the bank’s standards and objectives by working collaboratively with colleagues, providing accurate information and recommendations, and complying with policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Audit development and delivery support, including financial statements, accounting practices, operational processes, IT systems and risk management.
  • Identification of operational risks to support the delivery of the Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) Audit Plan through risk assessments.
  • Assessment of internal control effectiveness and their capability to identify and mitigate risk aligned to regulatory requirements.
  • Communication of key findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including the Audit Owner, senior managers and directors.
  • Identification of regulatory news and industry trends/developments to provide timely insight and recommendations for best practice.

  • To contribute or set strategy, drive requirements and make recommendations for change. Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/ processes; deliver continuous improvements and escalate breaches of policies/procedures.

They may also lead a number of specialists to influence the operations of a department, in alignment with strategic as well as tactical priorities, while balancing short and long term goals and ensuring that budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.

They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions.
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organisation functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
  • Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis with interpretative thinking will be required to define problems and develop innovative solutions.
  • Adopt and include the outcomes of extensive research in problem solving processes.
  • Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders in order to accomplish key business objectives, using influencing and negotiating skills to achieve outcomes.
