BI Engineer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive BI Engineer to join our Technology team. This role is responsible for facilitating reporting requirements gathering, designing, and building reports through Tableau. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data analysis and visualization, with a passion for using data to drive business decisions.



Key Responsibilities

The Reporting Engineer will be joining a team of Data Engineering and Integration developers on a vital workstream for a large program. They will be in charge of the design and build of key reports as part of the project scope and maintaining said reports long-term.

  • Report Design & Development: Collaborate with data engineering and integration teams to design and build key project reports and dashboards, ensuring alignment with business requirements and data integration best practices



  • Data Validation: Validate and reconcile data sources and report outputs, working with integration developers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all deliverables



  • Requirements Gathering: Engage with business and technical stakeholders to understand reporting needs, translate them into technical specifications, and ensure all deliverables meet project objectives



  • Report Maintenance: Take long-term ownership of developed reports, proactively monitoring for issues, updating content as requirements evolve, and optimizing performance as needed



  • Documentation: Create and maintain thorough documentation for report logic, data sources, data dictionaries, business rules, and maintenance procedures



  • Quality Assurance: Perform rigorous testing of reports and dashboards to ensure reliability and accuracy before production release



  • User Acceptance Testing: Support user testing and data validation processes, including driving test cases to completion and prioritization of feedback



  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, enhance data visualization, and streamline report delivery



  • User Support: Provide ongoing support and training to end-users, addressing questions, troubleshooting issues, and gathering feedback for future enhancements



  • Compliance & Security: Ensure all reporting activities adhere to organizational policies, data governance standards, and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA)


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business, or related field



  • 2+ years of experience building and maintaining reports and dashboards in a BI tool



  • Proficient in SQL and data manipulation technique



  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail



  • Experience gathering requirements and translating them into effective data visualizations



  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working with business and technical teams


Preferred:

  • Experience in healthcare staffing or related healthcare industries



  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance requirements in healthcare



  • Experience with Tableau specifically



  • Experience with data warehousing tools such as Snowflake
