Job summary

Octapharma Plasma is seeking a BI Engineer to help extract, clean, and model data across sources, and build dashboards in Power BI to support data-driven decisions for donors and patients. You will collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure data quality.

This role requires SQL proficiency, cloud platform experience (Databricks, Azure), and familiarity with Agile/Scrum. Office-based at the corporate location with growth and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IS/Data Science or related IT.
• 3–4 years of experience in BI, data analytics, or reporting.
• Strong SQL and relational databases experience (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL).
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks, Azure).

Responsibilities

• Data Extraction: Extract data from databases, APIs, or flat files.
• Data Cleaning: Transform raw data into usable formats by cleaning and preprocessing.
• Basic Reporting: Generate standard reports or dashboards using BI tools like Power BI or Strategy.
• SQL Queries: Write basic SQL queries to fetch data and generate reports.
• Data Integration: Support integration of data from multiple systems.
• Learning & Development: Participate in training sessions and shadow senior engineers.
• Collaboration: Gather requirements with analysts and stakeholders.
• Data Quality: Perform quality checks on data outputs.
• Documentation & Support: Document data definitions, data flows, and logic; train business users on BI tools.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Participate in design of departmental standards for delivery and GxP compliance where relevant.
• Participate in on-call rotation and assist with after-hours issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

BI Engineer

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics or related IT
• 3-4 years of experience in BI, data analytics, or reporting
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL).
• Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks, Azure).

Required Certifications, Licenses, And Registrations

• MicroStrategy Certified Developer or MicroStrategy Certified Professional (preferred)
• Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Basic SQL knowledge.
• Familiarity with Excel and BI tools (Power BI, Strategy, etc.).
• Understanding of databases and data structures.
• Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Good communication and documentation skills.

Physical Requirements

• Position works in-office at the corporate location
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to use a computer and other office equipment
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds
• Ability to reach, bend, and stoop as necessary
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to focus and concentrate on tasks for extended periods
• Ability to navigate the office environment safely, including stairs and elevators (if applicable)
• Ability to travel up to 20% via airplane or vehicle (if applicable)
