Job summary

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) seeks a Business Intelligence Analyst to turn data into actionable insights for the Capital Investment Program. You will build dashboards, write SQL, govern data, and partner with CFA and IT teams to enhance reporting and analytics.

Responsibilities include developing Tableau visualizations, leading data preparation, and supporting the CMS-to-ERP transition while ensuring accuracy and adherence to MBTA policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
• Two years of experience developing and maintaining data models, databases, data warehouses, data lakes and/or SQL scripts.
• Experience with data analysis, cleansing, extraction, conversion, and data governance.
• Experience with report development, data visualization, and storytelling.
• Advanced expertise in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Cloud, Tableau Prep Builder, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Experience with agile methodology.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex visualizations using Tableau Desktop for stakeholder groups.
• Prepare capital reports using Excel and various systems.
• Implement, optimize data extraction, cleansing, consolidation, and conversion processes with a data governance framework.
• Analyze data relationships across sources; write SQL to extract, consolidate, and publish data to reports and visualizations.
• Write advanced SQL for ad-hoc reporting and maintain data models, data warehouses, and related SQL processes.
• Support transition from legacy CMS to a new ERP system (Oracle/PeopleSoft) and Tableau Cloud integration.
• Evaluate future reporting solutions and assist in design and implementation of the solution.
• Structure data for optimal presentation, access, performance, and integration.
• Set standards for technical documentation and BI objects.
• Perform data profiling to identify anomalies and work with data modelers and developers.
• Adhere to MBTA policies and procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
