BHS Early Childhood Lead Teacher
Purpose:
- Plan and implement educational activities in the 3 and 4 year old classroom at the BHS.
- Provide experience-based instructional activities that meet program goals and respond to students’ interests, abilities, and needs.
- Provide highly engaging enrichment activities that incorporate social-emotional learning opportunities.
Outcomes:
- Lead Teachers revise lesson plans for their assigned age groups before the program start date.
- Students attending the BHS receive instructional services during the blueberry harvest.
- All students in each classroom experience learning opportunities where they feel welcome, supported, and connected to others.
- Teachers will support student learning through opportunities for students to use and access multiple languages throughout the program.
Responsibilities:
- Provide whole group and small group instruction to assigned age group, and develop routines and supports to ensure that all students can successfully participate in activities at the BHS.
- Teachers will incorporate social-emotional learning opportunities (including group discussions, play-based learning, collaborative projects, mindfulness and emotional intelligence, etc.) throughout daily classroom and enrichment activities.
- Determine student interests, abilities, and needs based on discussion and observation during class activities and other formative assessment strategies.
- Design activities and differentiate instruction based on students’ skills as they enter the program.
- Share supervision responsibilities with Assistant Teachers during bus arrival/dismissal, meal times, recess, and field trips.
- Communicate regularly with other program staff to ensure that students are able to access support services available during the program.
- Share staff responsibilities during one evening event per week, such as Family Night *pending COVID-restrictions, may be in-person or remote.
Collaboration and Supervision:
Lead Teachers receive regular support and feedback from their supervisor: School Coordinator, Laura Thomas.

Lead Teachers collaborate with staff in the following roles: Assistant Teachers, Operations Coordinator, Community Culture Coordinator, and Health and Wellness Teacher.
- Lead Teachers connect with Assistant Teachers throughout the day to delegate and share responsibilities for attendance, instruction, classroom management, assessments, and supervision.
- Lead Teachers connect with Assistant Teachers (and the School Coordinator, as needed) during planning periods to ensure that instruction and classroom activities: are aligned with program objectives and expectations; are differentiated based on student abilities and needs; are culturally and linguistically relevant.
- Lead Teachers connect with School Coordinator, Community Culture Coordinator, Health and Wellness Teacher, and Operations Coordinator as needed, to ensure that student needs are being met and discuss support plans for individual students as well as the class group as a whole.
Lead Teachers do not supervise staff in any other roles.
Important Deadlines/Timeline and Compliance Expectations:
- Submit attendance forms to Administration Assistant each day by 9:00 AM and report any updates to attendance throughout the day.
- Compile student writing samples and class video and submit to School Coordinator by Wednesday, August 13.
- Administer student pre-and-post assessments for assigned age group and submit results to School Coordinator by Thursday, August 14.
- Submit individual student comments for assigned age group by Thursday, August 14.
Qualifications and Hiring Information:
- Values: Must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to Mano en Mano’s mission and vision. Ideal candidates for this position will demonstrate teaching experience that reflects a commitment to equity and social justice in education.
- Experience: At least two years of classroom teaching experience OR four or more years of relevant experience planning and leading educational activities and programming. Preference for applicants who demonstrate: experience working with highly mobile students and an understanding of trauma-informed practices.
- Language: Must be fluent in English. Preference for applicants who are fluent in Spanish due to classroom language needs.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher. Two or more years of equivalent work experience may be considered. Preference for applicants with teacher certification.

- Pay Range: $24-27/hour, based on BHS experience, and/or language fluency.
- Start/End Date: Monday, July 21st - Friday, August 15th
- Expected Hours (Full Time):
- PD Week: Monday, July 21st - Friday, July 25th - 8:00AM-4:00PM
- School in-session: Monday, July 28th - Friday, August 15th - 8:00AM-4:00PM, Monday-Friday, with additional hours during family events and resource fairs
