Job Overview
The custodian is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of the facility, ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment. This role will oversee and implement quality control standards for housekeeping, laundry services, and floor maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and services bathrooms, rooms, and offices in the facility.
- Buffs, waxes, and strips floors as necessary.
- Mops bathrooms and spot mops floors when needed.
- Sweeps porches, vacuums, and cleans soiled spots on carpets.
- Dusts and cleans furniture, equipment, light fixtures, and vents.
- Cleans windows and sills, empties trash baskets, and arranges rooms in proper order.
- Scours and polishes bathtubs, sinks, mirrors, and similar equipment.
- Maintains utility storage rooms clean and free of fire hazards.
- Uses housekeeping supplies and utility carts safely and stores them properly.
- Polishes windows, wooden doors, and glass in doors and partitions.
- Participates in the Quality Assurance Assessment system, including Mealtime, Environmental, Interaction, and Third Shift Assessments.
- Washes, dries, and folds all residents’ clothes and linens as requested.
- Identifies and stores clothes and linens in a proper manner as requested or needed.
- Cleans and disinfects bed mattresses and breaks down beds.
- Pulls and cleans behind and under beds and mattresses.
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license and personal auto liability insurance.
- Pre‑employment screening: completed criminal background check (name checked in OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities). Drug testing, education verification, and other credentialing as required.
- Proof of employment history or references, if required.
- For driving-required positions: proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle if necessary for transportation duties.
