Job summary

Tom Thumb Supermarket in Dallas is seeking a Beverage Steward to assist customers with wine and beer selections and to maintain a well-stocked, organized, and inviting department. You will help with product knowledge, pairings, and friendly, informative conversations that enhance the shopping experience.

You will also stock, rotate, and organize products, monitor inventory, and support tasting events and promotions in a fast-paced retail setting.

You’ll assist with product selection, answer questions, and share helpful insights so customers leave confident in their choices, whether it’s a quick recommendation or a thoughtful pairing for a meal or occasion.

As a Beverage Steward, you’re the go‑to for great pairings and even better conversations, helping customers explore wines and beers while providing a welcoming and informative shopping experience. You’ll assist with product selection, answer questions, and share helpful insights so customers leave confident in their choices, whether it’s a quick recommendation or a thoughtful pairing for a meal or occasion.

You also maintain department conditions throughout the day by stocking, rotating, and organizing products while keeping displays full and visually consistent. You monitor inventory levels, complete ordering tasks, and follow merchandising plans and standards. This role operates in a fast‑paced retail environment where consistency, organization, and product awareness contribute to overall department performance.

• Customer Interaction Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with customers and provide accurate product information
• Product Knowledge: Basic understanding of wine and beer categories, with interest in learning product characteristics and pairings
• Communication Skills: Ability to convey product details, pricing, and promotional information clearly
• Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain accuracy in pricing, labeling, rotation, and presentation standards
• Organization & Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workflow, and maintain an orderly work area
• Inventory & Stocking Practices: Ability to stock, rotate, and maintain inventory levels to meet demand
• Vendor & Product Coordination: Ability to communicate with vendors regarding ordering, product availability, and merchandising activities
• Event & Promotion Awareness: Ability to prepare and execute tasting events, promotions, and sampling activities
• Adaptability: Ability to adjust to changing priorities and workload in a fast‑paced environment
• Physical Capability: Ability to lift and move products up to 50lbs, stand for extended periods, and remain active throughout the shift
