Job summary

Convene Hospitality Group is seeking a Beverage Lead for The Mallory, its premier event venue in New York. You will support beverage operations, assist with scheduling, and help train staff to deliver a premium guest experience at high-end events.

Working with the Beverage Director, you’ll manage bar setup, beverage programs, and vendor coordination in a fast-paced luxury setting, ensuring consistency and compliance with alcohol service standards.

Overview:

CHG is seeking a passionate Beverage Lead to support beverage operations at our newest event venue, The Mallory. Working in close partnership with our Beverage Director, this hands‑on role supports the planning, preparation, and execution of the venue’s beverage program, helping deliver exceptional bar service and a premium guest experience at every event. The Beverage Lead supports event bar operations, assists with scheduling and staffing coordination, supports training, prepares bar ingredients, and helps ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations. Working closely with clients, caterers, event planners, and internal teams, you’ll help bring elevated beverage experiences to life in a fast‑paced, luxury hospitality environment.

The Mallory is Convene Hospitality Group’s premier new event destination located within the historic Terminal Warehouse in West Chelsea, New York. Reimagined from a landmark 19th‑century freight hub into a dynamic 50,000‑square‑foot venue, The Mallory blends original industrial architecture with modern design and technology to host everything from galas and fashion shows to weddings and private celebrations for up to 550 guests. What You’ll Do:

Behind the Bar

  • Foster a memorable experience by greeting all guests with timely, friendly, personalized service and developing a rapport with all guests.
  • Demonstrate a thorough, working knowledge of all F&B products and services and effectively communicate them to guests and clients.
  • Proactively cultivate a full working knowledge of both food and beverage menus from our catering partners.
  • Pass regularly scheduled re‑certifications in a timely manner.
  • Proficiently prepare espresso, tea, non‑alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
  • Adapt to different types of events and services while maintaining the brand’s standards and expectations
  • Complete side work as assigned and as necessary.

Beverage Program Management

  • Support training and execution and provide feedback on seasonal beverage offerings including cocktails, wine, beer, and non‑alcoholic options in alignment with CHG standards and the unique trends and needs of the brand.
  • Lead and execute production of house made ingredients, and pre‑batched cocktails
  • Facilitate execution of best practices including but not limited to service standards, glassware and bar equipment, and garnishment techniques to ensure 100% consistency.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of beverage trends, products, and industry best practices.
  • Ensure consistent beverage preparation, presentation and quality
  • Participate in client site tours and facilitate the Amenity Lounge and S&D programs as needed.
  • Support the purchasing of beverage products, bar equipment, and supplies.
  • Track inventory, usage, and implement systems to minimize waste and control costs of all products and equipment.
  • Perform hard‑counts of product and equipment as directed by the beverage director and/or general manager and prepare cost‑analysis reports
  • Receive and properly store deliveries, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Execute day‑of services as outlined by the Beverage Director and Senior Event Producer and in alignment with event documents including but not limited to PEOs, production schedules, run of show, etc.
  • Ensure specialty product requests and services are executed as planned to meet or exceed expectations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all custom beverage‑related inquiries during the setup and execution of events.
  • Ability to adapt and lead others through service changes and pivots

Operations & Staff Oversight

  • Ensure proper opening and closing of the venue, following all procedures and best practices
  • Oversee bar setup, breakdown, and service execution for events, ensuring a premium guest experience and pristine back‑of‑house standards.
  • Train and mentor members of the CHG Event Bar Staff, providing timely and relevant feedback on their behavior and performance, while escalating issues to the Beverage Director or General Manager. Maintain documentation as needed to support performance improvement plans.
  • Support the training of bartenders on recipes, service standards, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws, health codes, and venue policies.
  • Provide hands‑on support including but not limited to the amenity spaces and services, room setups, and general operations as needed.
  • Ensure all incidents, accidents and critical feedback is logged for investigation, and action solutions as necessary with guidance from the manager on duty.
  • Understand the need for change and display a positive attitude towards it, while motivating others to adapt.
  • Monitor staffing needs and communicate recommendations to leadership
What We Look For:
  • Experience: 2+ years in bar operations, lead bartending, or beverage coordination, ideally within an event‑driven or high‑volume hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktail techniques.
  • Beverage certifications (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or equivalent) are a significant plus.
  • Experience with advanced cocktail production
  • Experience with inventory oversight inclusive of requisitions, consumption identification, and monthly inventory counting
  • A service‑first approach with the ability to problem‑solve in a fast‑paced, high‑end event environment.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to support events.
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Valid NYC Food Handlers permit and certification in responsible alcohol service preferred (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol)
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs., stand/walk for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Compensation:

Full Time Hourly Rate : $35/hour with overtime eligibility for hours worked over 40 in a work week.

This role is also eligible for Convene's annual incentive performance bonus plan.
