Job summary

International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) in St. Louis, MO, is offering a Beverage Applications Intern role to gain hands-on experience supporting beverage innovation in lab and pilot plant settings.

You will learn how ingredients influence formulation, processing, stability, texture, nutrition, and sensory characteristics while contributing to real technical projects. You'll work with beverage application scientists, participate in benchtop testing through pilot-scale processing, and gain

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree program in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Nutrition, or related field.
• Interest in beverage formulation, food ingredients, product development, or food processing.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on laboratory and pilot plant environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist Beverage Applications scientists with a selected project from experimental design to completion, including formulation, sample prep, processing, testing, data collection, and evaluation.
• Support application and evaluation of various IFF food and beverage ingredients in beverage systems.
• Prepare formulations and ingredients for lab and pilot plant trials.
• Operate small-scale lab and pilot plant equipment to produce beverage prototypes and trial samples.
• Gather and summarize experimental data, observations, and results.
• Participate in sensory and physical evaluation of beverage prototypes.
• Collaborate with Beverage Applications scientists and other technical functions.
• Maintain accurate records and a safe, clean lab environment.
