Job summary

WR Engineering in Seattle seeks a BESS Field Service Engineer to support utility-scale battery energy storage projects across Texas and the wider United States. You will be responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing Battery Energy Storage Systems, power conversion equipment and associated electrical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Field-service experience within BESS, renewable energy, power generation or electrical power systems.
• Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical systems.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics and single-line diagrams.
• Experience using multimeters, insulation testers, clamp meters and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting and fault-finding ability.
• Willingness to travel regularly and stay away from home when required.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventive and corrective maintenance on utility-scale BESS installations.
• Diagnose electrical, controls and communications faults.
• Troubleshoot battery racks, modules, PCS units, inverters and auxiliary systems.
• Support system commissioning, validation and performance testing.
• Analyse alarms, SCADA information, system logs and control data.
• Test and inspect transformers, switchgear and other power-distribution equipment.
• Replace defective components and complete firmware or parameter updates.
• Produce detailed service reports and technical documentation.
• Communicate with customers, site operators, EPCs and equipment manufacturers.
• Work safely in accordance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO and site-specific procedures.

Salary: $100,000 - $140,000, depending on experience

Position: Full-time, field-based

Travel: Regular travel across Seattle and the wider United States

An established energy-storage service provider is looking for a BESS Field Service Engineer to support utility-scale battery energy storage projects across Texas and the wider United States.

You will be responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing Battery Energy Storage Systems, power conversion equipment and associated electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Complete preventive and corrective maintenance on utility-scale BESS installations

Requirements

Experience with utility-scale batteries, PCS equipment, solar inverters, transformers, switchgear or SCADA systems would be particularly valuable.

Engineers from UPS, critical power, solar, generators, industrial electrical maintenance or high-voltage equipment backgrounds may also be considered.
