Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company, via WECTEC Staffing Services, is seeking a test engineer for a 1-year W-2 contract. The role is remote with occasional travel within the United States up to 25% to project locations for testing of Battery Energy Storage System and Solar-Coupled Power systems.

You will conduct plant and performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA testing, startup activities, and report on commissioning and testing; oversee safety, compliance, and contractor work.

Qualifications

• Battery Energy Storage Systems installation and startup experience
• Thorough understanding of the technical, performance, and integration of Li‑Ion batteries within ESS
• Commissioning process creation
• Understanding of containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, and combiners
• Thorough understanding of DC systems (0–2,000Vdc) and AC systems (480V–34.5kV)
• Experience with control and SCADA systems and troubleshooting

Responsibilities

• Participates in safety program and audits
• Supports PPA testing with the customer
• Supports GIA testing with TO
• Supports ISO testing
• Manages test energy forecast with the customer
• Supports ICCP IT SCADA Team and SCADA PM/Lead with functional checks
• Works with SCADA Integrator and Execution Commissioning Project Manager to develop a commissioning schedule based on mechanical completion
• Works with SCADA integrator and Commissioning Manager to execute site acceptance testing
• Supports CEWIS critical point checkout with ROCC alarm checks/PGD
• Performs OEM testing
• Performs plant balancing
• Performs capacity testing
• Notifies AVR/AGC and provides support
• Reviews performance data for deficiencies

About the role

Remote with occasional travel within the United States to project locations for testing, with an estimated travel frequency of up to 25%. The remaining work is primarily remote, focused on SCADA monitoring. This is a 1‑year contract assignment (W‑2). The primary role is to conduct plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA testing and startup of a Battery Energy Storage System and Solar‑Coupled Power systems. The owner’s representative oversees compliance, status reporting, safety, startup, commissioning and testing. Responsibilities are performed by managing and reporting on commissioning and performance testing work executed by contractors and vendors on site. Reports to: Client Senior Cx Project Manager.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to see color to discern color‑coded HMI controls
• Prolonged periods of screen time and sitting
• Willing to operate a motor vehicle for commuting between two working locations

The base salary range for this position, which depends on experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $99.00/hr. to $104.00/hr.
