Job summary

YMCA of Greater Indianapolis at Benjamin Harrison YMCA in Indianapolis is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to provide safe, engaging classes in line with YMCA safety guidelines.

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and Aquatics Director, you will deliver quality instruction, rotate through classes as needed, and support a positive learning environment for participants.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 at time of application.
• Demonstrates emotional maturity and judgment.
• Experience leading group exercise is preferred.
• Must pass a swim test demonstrating stroke proficiency and treading water.
• Must obtain health certifications within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, challenging swim instruction per YMCA guidelines.
• Assist with planning and leading classes under supervision.

Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and/ or Aquatics Director, the Swim Instructor will provide safe and challenging classes according the YMCA and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 16 years of age.
• Demonstrates emotional maturity and judgment.
• Experience leading group exercise is preferred.
• Has the ability to swim as determined by passing a swim test. (Test consists of being able to complete the strokes in which you will be instructing, able to tread water for at least 2 minutes, etc.)
• Must possess or obtain HCP within 90 days of employment, First Aid, Lifeguard or Aquatic Safety Assistant certification within 90 days of employment.
• Current Swim Lesson Certification (YMCA or American Red Cross) or Water Exercise Certifications (YMCA, Arthritis Foundation, etc.)
