Job summary

Empower in the United States is seeking a seasoned Benefits Planner to partner with Executive Planners and deliver workplace benefits optimization and comprehensive financial planning for highly compensated participants.

You will develop customized financial plans, present personalized recommendations, and support long-term client engagement while maintaining a fiduciary mindset and staying compliant with FINRA and SEC requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years in financial planning / wealth management / advisory.
  • CRPC designation required.
  • CFP certification preferred.
  • Active FINRA Series 7 license.
  • Series 63/65 or 66 licenses required.
  • FINRA fingerprinting required.
  • State life license preferred.
  • Strong consultative sales orientation with client-facing experience.
  • Knowledge of retirement, investments, tax, estate and risk planning.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Executive Planners to provide workplace benefits optimization reviews for highly compensated participants.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive participants with personalized financial planning guidance.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen participant relationships with wealth management solutions.
  • Apply a consultative approach to ongoing financial planning conversations and client engagement.
  • Act as subject matter expert on employer-sponsored benefit programs during consultations and reviews.
  • Analyze participant financials and develop comprehensive plans aligned with goals and benefits.
  • Present customized plans covering retirement, investments, tax, estate and risk management needs.
  • Review investment strategies aligned with objectives and risk tolerance.
  • Monitor market trends and regulatory developments to provide informed guidance.
  • Collaborate with partners to deliver seamless participant experience.
  • Support continuous improvement and maintain regulatory compliance.

The Benefits Planner partners with Executive Planners to deliver workplace benefits optimization and comprehensive financial planning services to highly compensated participants. This role combines financial planning expertise with a consultative, relationship-building approach to help participants maximize their workplace benefits, identify planning opportunities, and deepen their engagement with Empower's wealth management solutions. The Benefits Planner serves as the subject matter expert on executive benefits while developing customized financial plans, presenting personalized recommendations, and supporting meaningful client relationships. Success in this role requires strong financial planning knowledge, a proactive sales orientation, and the ability to build trust that fosters long-term client engagement and business growth.

What You Will Do
  • Partner with Executive Planners to provide workplace benefits optimization reviews for highly compensated participants.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with executive participants by delivering personalized financial planning guidance and ongoing support.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen participant relationships by introducing appropriate financial planning and wealth management solutions based on each participant's goals, needs, and financial circumstances.
  • Apply a consultative approach to encourage ongoing financial planning conversations, increase participant engagement, and support the continued growth of the executive client segment.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on employer-sponsored benefit programs, helping participants understand and maximize available benefits during initial consultations and annual reviews.
  • Analyze participant financial situations and develop comprehensive financial plans aligned with individual goals, priorities, and workplace benefits.
  • Develop and present customized financial plans and recommendations that address retirement planning, investment strategies, tax-efficient planning, estate planning, and risk management needs.
  • Recommend and review investment strategies that align with participant objectives, risk tolerance, and long-term financial goals.
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and industry best practices to deliver informed financial guidance.
  • Conduct risk assessments and incorporate appropriate risk management strategies into financial plans.
  • Collaborate with Executive Planners and internal business partners to deliver a seamless participant experience and support long-term relationship growth.
  • Support team initiatives by sharing knowledge, contributing to continuous improvement efforts, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.
  • Maintain compliance with FINRA, SEC, state insurance, and company regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental and organizational objectives.
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in financial planning, wealth management, financial advisory, or a related client-facing financial services role.
  • Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation required.
  • Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) certification preferred.
  • Active FINRA Series 7 license required.
  • Active FINRA Series 63 and Series 65 licenses, or Series 66, required.
  • FINRA Fingerprinting required.
  • State Life Insurance License preferred.
  • Demonstrated consultative sales orientation with the ability to identify client needs, build trusted relationships, and grow long-term participant engagement.
  • Experience uncovering financial planning opportunities and presenting personalized recommendations that align with client goals and objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, retirement planning, investment management, tax planning, estate planning, and risk management principles.
  • Experience creating and presenting comprehensive financial plans to clients.
  • Proficiency with financial planning software such as MoneyGuidePro, NaviPlan, or similar planning platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts and influence executive-level participants.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to regulatory compliance.

  • Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) certification.

Base Salary Range

$87,400.00 - $123,400.00

The salary range above shows the typical minimum to maximum base salary range for this position in the location listed. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation offered may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
