Job summary

Asana is seeking a Benefits Manager to design and scale foundational benefits programs for our North America organization. You will own health & welfare, wellness, and retirement offerings while ensuring equity and accessibility.

Based in San Francisco, this role follows an office-centric hybrid schedule with in-office days Mon, Tue, Thu and optional WFH on Wed; Friday depends on the team. You will partner with global benefits leadership to drive strategy, manage vendors, and ensure regulatory

Qualifications

• 6+ years of benefits program management experience, including health & welfare and retirement programs.
• Experience as a benefits administration system administrator or power user.
• Strong knowledge of NAMER benefits compliance (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA; Canadian familiarity is a plus).
• Familiarity with total rewards philosophy and equity-informed benefits design.

Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented, strategic team player to join as a Benefits Manager on Asana’s People Team . In this role, you will design and scale foundational benefits programs that drive consistency, well-being, and equity across our North America organization . You will own key offerings, including health & welfare benefits, wellness, and retirement, ensuring every Asana has access to comprehensive, competi tive support . This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule . The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday . Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays . Workin g from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner .

What you’ll achieve

• Partner with the Head of Global Benefits to own the strategy, design, and execution of high-impact benefits programs across the U.S. and Canada .
• Shape Benefits Strategy: Design and continuously improve the overall experience, communications, and delivery of benefits programs, maximizing employee well-being and reducing friction for all Asanas .
• Manage Vendor and Broker Relationships: Own relationships with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators across medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement programs, leading renewals and ongoing performance management .
• Serve as the Benefits Systems Expert: Establish yourself as the administrator for our benefits administration platform, advising People Ops and cross-functional teams on strategy for enrollment, data integrity, governance, reporting, and process optimization .
• Build Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with stakeholders in People Operations, Payroll, Finance, Legal, and Talent Acquisition to integrate benefits into the end-to-end employee lifecycle and lead cross-functional change initiatives .
• Ensure Compliance: Maintain deep working knowledge of relevant regulations (including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and state-specific leave laws), ensuring programs and plan documents remain compliant .
• Maximize Program Outcomes: Design measurable frameworks for benefits utilization, employee satisfaction, and cost management using data to inform future strategy and investment .
• Apply an AI-first approach to streamline benefits administration and case management, creating personalized employee communications .

About you

• Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making .
• 6+ years of experience in benefits program management, with a track record of owning and scaling health & welfare, and retirement programs .
• Expertise as a benefits administration system administrator or power user, with demonstrated ability to advise on enrollment strategy, data integrity, and reporting .
• Strong working knowledge of NAMER benefits compliance requirements (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, and state paid leave laws); familiarity with Canadian benefits programs is a plus .
• Familiarity with total rewards philosophy and inclusive, equity-informed benefits design .
• Clear, compelling communicator, both verbally and in writing, capable of synthesizing complex plan information and guiding e mployees with empathy .
• Approach problem-solving with a strong sense of urgency, metic ulous attention to detail, and exceptional time management skills .
• Experience leading cross-functional change and influencing peer and senior stakeholders withou t direct authority .
• Comfort designing measurable success metrics and using data to driv e decision-making .

Our comprehensive compensation package plays a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you ha ve on our path to achieving our mission . We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role . To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit . For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $164,000 - $186,000 . The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process . The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified . In addition to base salary, your compensation package may include additional componen ts such as equity, sales incentive pay (for most s ales roles), and benefits .
