Job summary

Everwise Credit Union is seeking a Benefits + Leave Specialist to manage daily benefits administration, leave management, and payroll data integrity. You will serve as the primary contact for questions, educate employees, and ensure compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and state laws.

You will collaborate with vendors, HR, and payroll to process enrollments, leaves, and accommodations, maintain accurate records, generate reports, and drive process improvements to enhance the employee

Qualifications

• Associate degree in HR or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years' benefits administration or progressive Human Resources experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Solid knowledge of ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, workers' compensation and related regulations.
• Ability to explain complex benefits rules in plain language.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits, leave of absence, disability, and workers' compensation questions and requests.
• Educate employees regarding eligibility, enrollment, qualifying life events, and benefit programs.
• Process benefit enrollments, terminations, COBRA coordination, status changes, and qualifying life events within HRIS and vendor systems.
• Administer programs in accordance with ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, and other applicable laws.
• Maintain current knowledge of benefit laws, leave of absence regulations, and industry best practices.
• Partner with benefit carriers and third-party administrators to resolve escalated employee issues and ensure service levels are met.
• Prepare and analyze routine benefit and leave utilization reports.
• Coordinate with payroll, HR, and leaders to ensure leaves and disability claims are accurate and timely.
• Draft employee communications and support open enrollment preparations.
