Job summary

Idaho State Liquor Division (ISLD) is hiring full-time clerks to provide excellent customer service in our state-operated liquor stores. You will greet customers, process sales, balance cash, and verify IDs to prevent underage or prohibited purchases.

Responsibilities include stocking, merchandising, opening/closing duties, and generating daily reports. Training and potential supervisory opportunities are available as part of career growth.

Qualifications

• Must be 19 years of age to sell liquor.
• Experience with basic arithmetic.
• Reading instructions written in English.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers and answers questions regarding product content, use and price.
• Observes customers, checks identification for proof-of-age and denies service to underage or intoxicated customers.
• Receives payments by cash, check or credit card and makes change.
• Receives and verifies licensed-bar orders.
• Operates computerized cash register system to process sales data.
• Closes out cash register and balances receipts to sales journal.
• Receives and verifies shipments; inspects damages and codes merchandise.
• Determines stocking needs and arranges shelf displays.
• Opens and closes store and maintains security.
• Balances daily receipts with daily sales reports and makes bank deposits.
• Enters merchandise data and generates reports.
• May supervise clerks and supervise/ train others.
• Recommends product merchandising and inventory levels; prepares sales summaries.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of store areas.
