Job summary

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Benefits and Compensation Specialist to join our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2–3 years benefits and compensation administrative experience.
  • SHRM Certification preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS and HR reports. UKG preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Los Angeles County.
  • Reliable means of transportation for onsite and off-site work.
  • If using a personal vehicle to drive for work purposes, CA driver license and auto insurance in compliance with CA vehicle code.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process and maintain all benefit related changes in HRIS (new hire enrollments, qualifying events, retirement changes).
  • Conduct benefits audits and reconcile enrollment data for accuracy and data integrity in HRIS.
  • Maintain benefit forms (election forms, surveys).
  • Audit and process benefit invoices (medical, dental, vision, EAP, life insurance).
  • Support annual renewal process and communicate changes to employees (eligibility, coverage, provisions).
  • Coordinate Open Enrollment module updates with provider data and premiums to ensure accurate deductions.
  • Facilitate benefits presentations during New Hire Enrollment onboarding.
  • Support retirement plans (401(k) and 457) ensuring COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA compliance.
  • Provide support during audits with TPA and auditors for Form 5500.
  • Ensure timely filing of Form 5500 for Health and Wellness and Retirement Plan.
  • Update and maintain SOPs related to benefits and compensation.

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Benefits and Compensation Specialist to work in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters.

The Benefits & Compensation Specialist is responsible for administering and supporting the organization's benefits and compensation programs. This role ensures accurate and timely administration of employee benefit plans, compensation processes, and HR compliance requirements. The specialist serves as a key resource for employees and management regarding benefits, compensation policies, and related programs while supporting strategic HR initiatives that promote employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.

Core Responsibilities
  • Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.
  • Process and maintain all benefit related changes in HRIS system including but not limited to new hire enrollments, qualifying event changes and retirement related changes.
  • Conduct benefits audits and reconcile enrollment data to ensure accuracy, compliance data integrity within HRIS systems.
  • Maintain all benefit related forms such as benefit election forms, annual benefits survey, etc.
  • Audit and process benefit insurance invoices i.e. medical, dental, vision, EAP, and life insurance bills to make sure they are current and accurate for approval
  • Support annual renewal process to ensure updates and/or changes are communicated to all employees. Provide support on employees of changes and developments related to benefits including eligibility, coverage, and provisions.
  • Coordinate the Open Enrollment module annually by updating system information with regards to provider’s updates, benefits data, premiums/rates, and coverage options etc. to ensure accurate deductions are processed bi-weekly.
  • Facilitate benefits presentations and benefit related documents during the New Hire Enrollment onboarding.
  • Support supervisor with retirement plans 401(k) and 457) to ensure the Organization follows the applicable provisions of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.
  • Provide support during audits with TPA and auditor in preparation for the annual filing of Form 5500.
  • Ensure timely filing of Form 5500 for Health and Wellness and Retirement Plan.
  • Update and maintain all SOPs related to benefits and compensation practices.
