Job summary

Main Street Insurance Group, a trusted independent agency with over 125 years in the Southeast, seeks a Benefits Analyst to support growth, client retention, and service excellence. You will analyze client needs, support renewals and new business, and prepare client-facing materials in partnership with the team.

Ideal candidates hold a Life & Health license or can obtain one within 90 days, plus a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in insurance or HR roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in insurance, carrier, or HR account management roles.
  • Life & Health Insurance license within state(s) of business or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Understanding of employee benefits, renewal workflows, and carrier processes.
  • Ability to review plan designs, census data, proposals, invoices, and enrollment forms.
  • Strong computer literacy including Applied Epic, Employee Navigator, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Support agency growth and retention efforts by completing service work for assigned accounts in conjunction with the Account Manager.
  • Identify coverage gaps and opportunities for account rounding, cross-selling, and upselling.
  • Analyze client needs, coverage forms, policies, proposals, plan designs, and related materials to identify potential loss exposure and recommend appropriate coverage solutions.
  • Prepare proofs, summaries, schedules, censuses, proposals, benefit guides, federal notices, Section 125 plans, invoices, and other client or internal documents as needed.
  • Process incoming mail, emails, faxes, phone calls, and service requests promptly with timely client updates when an immediate answer is not available.
  • Maintain client files in the Agency Management System by processing policies, changes, invoices, proofs of insurance, attachments, activities, and other service documentation per agency standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Benefits Analyst
Position Summary

The Benefits Analyst supports agency growth, client retention, and service excellence by completing benefit service work for assigned accounts in partnership with the Account Manager, Producer, and vendor partners. This role is responsible for analyzing client needs, supporting renewals and new business, maintaining accurate records, preparing client-facing materials, and ensuring service requests are handled promptly, professionally, and in accordance with agency standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support agency growth and retention efforts by completing service work for assigned accounts in conjunction with the Account Manager and in accordance with agency service standards.
  • Support the agency sales philosophy by identifying coverage gaps and opportunities for account rounding, cross-selling, and upselling.
  • Analyze client needs, coverage forms, policies, proposals, plan designs, and related materials to identify potential loss exposure and recommend appropriate coverage solutions.
  • Prepare proofs, summaries, schedules, censuses, proposals, benefit guides, federal notices, Section 125 plans, invoices, and other client or internal documents as needed.
  • Process incoming mail, emails, faxes, phone calls, and service requests promptly and professionally, including timely client updates when an immediate answer is not available.

Qualifications

  • Current Life & Health Insurance license within the state(s) of business, or the ability to obtain the license within 90 days of hire
  • Understanding of employee benefits, benefit administration platforms, renewal workflows, carrier processes, and agency service standards
  • Ability to review and interpret plan designs, census data, proposals, invoices, enrollment forms, and related benefit documentation
  • High level of computer literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Agency Management System (Applied Epic), benefit administration platforms (Employee Navigator), and carrier proprietary systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional, client-focused approach
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and documentation habits
  • Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize multiple requests, and provide timely updates to clients and internal team members
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
