Position

The Benefits Advisor (Benefits Accounting) will be responsible for supporting the HR Health & Welfare and Corporate Accounting departments by developing, maintaining, and delivering a wide range of accounting services that follow regulatory and specific plan design requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Computer Skills including expert proficiency level with Excel, skilled with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance
  • Desire an aptitude for learning quickly
  • Self-motivated
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written)
  • Ability to respond to changing circumstances and tight deadlines
  • Ability to ask clarifying questions to complete tasks in the most efficient manner possible
  • Detail oriented with good mathematical, strong analytical, and proven problem-solving skills
  • Great attention to detail and organization skills
  • Experience creating, improving and using administrative systems and procedural checklists
  • Comfortable working both with a team and as an individual contributor
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare analysis of company costs under medical, drug, and dental welfare plans for actuarial valuations and annual cost reviews.
  • Assist in developing COBRA, accounting accruals, and employee contribution rates for the company's medical and dental plans.
  • Sarbanes Oxley compliance for HR Services group including documentation of processes and flow charts. Assist in testing as needed.
  • Prepare various benefit-related government filings including H&W Form 5500s.
  • Maintain Form 5500 software and electronically file all Annual Report filings with the Department of Labor.
  • Prepare calculations for Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).
  • Reconcile corporate welfare benefit liability accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Allocate monthly welfare benefit costs for active and retiree populations to company business units.
  • Calculate, verify, and process invoices for payment. Utilize Workday and Excel to generate invoices for self-billed programs.
  • Calculate and prepare analytics of benefit program utilizations for management.
  • Oversee special accounting and/or HR projects as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Benefits Accounting experience or related audit experience at an accounting firm
  • Workday and SAP experience
  • Understanding of Microsoft VBA
