Job summary

Penn Highlands Healthcare is seeking a Benefits Specialist to oversee day-to-day administration of medical, dental, vision, life, disability and retirement programs system-wide.

The role requires strong multitasking, communication, and partner-management skills to ensure compliant, timely delivery of benefits across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in HR or related field; experience may substitute.
  • 3–5 years HR/benefit plan administration required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with deadlines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present technical and complex information clearly.
  • Strong partnering with internal and external partners/vendors.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on, day-to-day administration of all benefits and retirement programs.
  • Act as liaison for employees and plan vendors to ensure program success.
  • Ensure benefit activities are completed timely and in compliance with regulations and policies.

Benefits Specialist is responsible for hands‑on, day‑to‑day administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life & disability as well as Defined Contribution 403(b) and 401(k), 457(b) and 457 (f) and Defined Benefit Pension Plans system wide. Ensures all benefit plan activities are completed timely and in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Acts as a liaison for employees and plan vendors as it relates to system-wide benefits and retirement programs to ensure the overall success of the Benefits Department by contributing and monitoring specific individual goals, plans, ensuring that initiatives are executed and delivered.

Qualifications
  • Education: Associates Degree in HR or related field, experience and other training may be substituted for education.
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of HR and/or benefit plan administration required
  • Required skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present technical and complex information in an understandable way at all levels of the organization
  • Strong partnering skills with internal and external partners/vendors
  • Ability to work effectively in an open office environment
  • Demonstrated passion for helping employees achieve well‑being and understanding of system‑wide benefits and retirement programs
  • Broad knowledge of retirement plans, IRS, ERISA regulations and fiduciary basics
  • Knowledge of retirement and benefits administration processes and procedures
  • Proven track record of increasing responsibility
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills
  • Strong computer skills including high proficiency in MSOffice
