Job description

Fully Remote Part-Time Benefit Specialist (Temporary)

Position Details: Temporary assignment lasting 16-20 weeks, 28 hours per week. Fully remote.

Job Overview: The Benefit Specialist manages daily benefit administration for all company benefits, ensuring compliance with IRS, DOL, and ERISA regulations. Responsibilities include communicating with employees and vendors regarding benefits and leaves of absence.

Major / Key Job Duties
Benefit Administration:
  • Administer full cycle benefit processes (new hires, QLE, QDRO, terminations) for medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, supplemental life, short and long-term disability, and retirement plans.
  • Generate reports to verify eligibility and benefit setup accuracy; approve transactions in ADP Vantage.
  • Communicate benefit programs, policies, and administration procedures to employees and management.
  • Maintain accurate benefit files and reports, and assist with audits and open enrollment.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and procedural benefit-related regulations.
  • Handle union dues reporting and funding.
Leave Administration:
  • Coordinate with administrators on FMLA, non-FMLA, W/C, and disability leaves.
  • Serve as liaison regarding insurance premiums during leaves.
  • Manage documentation related to disability payments and agency inquiries.
  • Provide necessary reports and participate in benefit plan audits.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies
  • Strong math, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and stay updated on legislation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least five years of experience in HR, benefits, or leave administration.
  • Experience with ADP products.
  • Degree preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
Language Skills:
  • Ability to write clear correspondence and communicate effectively.
Computer Skills:
  • Typing speed of 50-60 wpm.
  • Proficiency in ADP, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Problem-solving, effective communication, and organizational interaction skills.
