Job summary

USDM Life Sciences in Thousand Oaks, CA is seeking a Benchling Developer to configure and integrate life-science workflows across GxP environments. You will translate lab and business needs into scalable Benchling solutions, collaborating with scientists, IT, QA, validation, and other stakeholders.

You will lead data migrations, develop API integrations, and create documentation while ensuring compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 and related standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, life sciences, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Hands-on experience configuring or developing Benchling solutions.
• Experience with laboratory informatics, ELN, LIMS, R&D systems, or similar platforms.
• Understanding of data models, schemas, workflows, permissions, integrations, and system configuration.
• Experience with requirements gathering, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and change management.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience supporting Benchling in a GxP-regulated or validated environment.
• Experience with Benchling APIs, webhooks, automation, or integration frameworks.
• Experience integrating laboratory instruments or scientific applications.
• Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, GAMP 5, data integrity, and computerized system validation.
• Benchling certification or formal Benchling training.

Responsibilities

• Support implementations, enhancements, upgrades, production operations, and troubleshooting.

• Support data migration, mapping, validation, testing, change control, and release activities.
• Create technical specifications, configuration documentation, test scripts, and operating procedures.
• Partner with quality and validation teams on risk assessments, traceability, and GxP deliverables.
• Provide user support, training, technical guidance, and knowledge transfer.
• Performs other related duties and assignments as required

Nature and Scope of Job

The Benchling Developer configures, develops, integrates, and supports Benchling solutions for life sciences organizations. This role translates laboratory and business requirements into scalable, user‑friendly, and compliant systems while partnering with scientists, IT, quality, validation, and other stakeholders.

Compensation

Salary/Hourly Rate Range (W2): USD 70.00 - 80.00

The base salary/hourly rate range represents the anticipated low and high end of the USDM’s compensation range for this position. Actual salaries/hourly rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. The compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described based on market survey data or budget.

Full‑time employees are eligible for health, vision, and dental insurance, life insurance, short and long‑term disability, hospital indemnity, accident, and critical care coverage.

Both full and part‑time employees, who are at least 21 years of age, are eligible to participate in USDM's 401k plan. Full and part‑time employees may be eligible for paid time off.
