Job summary

Greenberg’s Jewelers, a fourth-generation family jeweler with over 125 years in business, seeks a skilled bench jeweler. You will perform repairs, alterations, restoration, stone setting, and other bench work while upholding our standards of quality and craftsmanship cherished by customers.

Qualifications

  • Previous professional bench jeweler experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with jewelry repair, soldering, sizing, stone setting, polishing, and refinishing.
  • Knowledge of precious metals, diamonds, gemstones, and jewelry construction.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Ability to work independently while also being part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple repairs and priorities while maintaining quality.
  • GIA education, trade school training, or other jewelry-related certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of jewelry repairs, including ring sizing, chain and clasp repair, prong repair, soldering, and stone tightening.
  • Set and replace diamonds, gemstones, and other stones using appropriate setting techniques.
  • Inspect jewelry and identify necessary repairs or potential areas of concern.
  • Restore and refinish jewelry through polishing, cleaning, rhodium plating, and other techniques.
  • Perform alterations and modifications to existing jewelry.
  • Maintain an organized, clean bench and proper documentation throughout the repair process.
  • Communicate with sales associates regarding repairs, estimates, timelines, and special requests.

Position Overview

Greenberg’s Jewelers is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bench Jeweler to join our team. This position is responsible for performing jewelry repairs, alterations, restoration, stone setting, and other bench work while maintaining the high standards of quality and craftsmanship our customers have trusted for generations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of jewelry repairs, including ring sizing, chain and clasp repair, prong repair, soldering, and stone tightening
  • Set and replace diamonds, gemstones, and other stones using appropriate setting techniques
  • Inspect jewelry and identify necessary repairs or potential areas of concern
  • Restore and refinish jewelry through polishing, cleaning, rhodium plating, and other techniques
  • Perform alterations and modifications to existing jewelry
  • Work with gold, platinum, silver, and other precious metals
  • Maintain a high level of precision, quality, and consistency in all bench work
  • Complete repairs accurately and within established timelines
  • Carefully handle customer merchandise and maintain proper documentation throughout the repair process
  • Communicate with sales associates and other team members regarding repairs, estimates, timelines, and special customer requests
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe bench and work environment
  • Properly care for and maintain tools and equipment
  • Stay current on jewelry repair techniques, equipment, and industry best practices
