Job summary

Lowes Foods on Johns Island is seeking a Grocery Manager to lead the grocery department, oversee guest service, merchandising programs, and day-to-day store operations. You will supervise staff, ensure inventory integrity, and help maintain Lowes Foods standards for quality and safety.

The role requires 1–3 years of supermarket knowledge, strong communication, and the ability to train and develop team members.

Responsibilities

• Ensure guests receive polite, friendly service from the grocery department staff.
• Achieve budgeted sales, wage percent, and profits for the grocery department.
• Maintain desired level of inventory and supplies to maximize sales and minimize excess inventory.
• Operate the department according to merchandising and operational guidelines and programs.
• Ensure the quality of product for sale meets Lowes Foods standards.
• Maintain sanitation and safety throughout the department including the backroom.
• Provide guidance, orientation, training and feedback to ensure staff achieve satisfactory performance.
• Perform product stocking and guest service as necessary to achieve standards.
• Maintain department staffing and scheduling standards.
• Control grocery shrink through proper stock loss programs.
• Ensure proper pricing and item scanning through audits.
• Ensure backroom is properly maintained.
• Ensure advertised items are available, signed and scanning correctly.
• Prepare grocery inventory for counts.
• Work with Store Manager and Grocery Manager to maintain product levels.

To supervise and ensure that Lowes Foods guest service, merchandising programs, and departmental operations are maintained in the grocery department to achieve maximum sales. Assume the duties of the Department Manager in their absence.

• Works with Store Manager, Grocery Manager and Receiver to maintain product level and conditions associated with vendor product.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
