Job summary

Kessler Hotels is seeking a friendly Bellperson for the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District. You will assist guests with luggage on arrival and departure and help guests enjoy a comfortable stay with attentive, courteous service.

Responsibilities include loading luggage, escorting guests to rooms, describing hotel amenities, handling deliveries, and providing information about local attractions. You will work in a busy, upscale setting and represent the hotel's standards of hospitality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.
• Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.
• Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload luggage carts.
• Organize and deliver luggage for tour groups
• Escort guests to rooms and familiarize them with hotel services.
• Inspect guest’s room to ensure it is in order and that supplies are adequate.
• Explain features of the room including operation of electronic devices and entertainment.
• Check/store luggage for arrivals and departures with luggage tags.
• Store, track, and deliver packages as needed.
• Deliver messages to meeting rooms.
• Deliver flowers, laundry, packages and other amenities to guestrooms.
• Assist with room changes.
• Maintain current listing of local and area attractions, special events and activities.
• Maintain list of local transportation guides, churches, sports arenas, etc.
• Assist Houseperson with guest requests.
• Ensure lobby reader board is correct.
• Provide information, maps and directions as required.
• Where applicable answer console to assist front desk agents.
• Show guestrooms and suites as needed and emphasize the hotel’s amenities.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

• 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year

• 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based In California

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
• Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from an anniversary, up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
