Kessler Hotels is seeking a Night Utility to provide overnight security, housekeeping, and maintenance support from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The role emphasizes guest service, safety, and high standards of cleanliness across public areas.

The incumbent will respond to guest requests, perform routine safety inspections, and assist with arrivals and departures while maintaining professional appearance and adherence to hotel policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Degree required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in housekeeping or maintenance required.
• Ability to communicate in the English language required.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with guests in a warm, professional manner using proper etiquette.
• Routinely walk the interior and exterior of the building and complete daily checklists.
• Respond to guest requests and emergencies, providing timely assistance.
• Perform housekeeping tasks in public areas and maintain cleanliness and ambiance.
• Operate the hotel telephone system and communicate with departments as needed.
• Assist with arrivals/departures and bell/valet service when required.
• Maintain security, privacy, and proper handling of guest belongings.

Overview

The overall objective and purpose of the Night Utility position are to provide overnight security, housekeeping, and maintenance, and guest service support from 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. The incumbent is responsible for conducting routine safety and security inspections and accurately completing checklists, responding to guest requests, and performing maintenance and housekeeping tasks. They are to provide the highest level of service in support of the mission, core values, standards, and goals established by the company.

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with internal and external guests in a genuinely warm and friendly manner using professional nomenclature
• Maintain the integrity of the guests’ privacy, including confidentiality of personal information and key control
• Routinely walk the interior and exterior of the building and accurately complete a daily checklist
• Direct and coordinate emergency response efforts as required
• Respond promptly to questions, concerns, and requests. The follow-up to ensure the guest is satisfied
• Use software program to communicate any deficiencies in the hotel
• Log guest requests and concerns according to the standard operating procedure. Provide timely communication with departments.
• Assist with arrivals and departures, including bell/valet service
• Perform housekeeping tasks including but not limited to cleaning public restrooms as needed and replacing products such as toilet paper, lotions and paper towels, dust, vacuum, and mop public areas, maintain cleanliness, appearance, and ambiance of public areas to include but not limited to furniture, fixtures, artwork, baseboards, window sills, floors, rugs, carpet, sinks, toilets, and mirrors.
• Empty trash containers and pick up debris
• Perform maintenance tasks too including but not limited to staining woodwork, painting, buffing floors, and plumbing
• Operate the telephone system, answering calls within three (3) rings, using the correct salutation and telephone etiquette
• Maintain complete knowledge in the use of all office equipment, property management systems, and access according to specifications
• Work proficiently in order to meet daily requirements
• Solve problems proficiently
• Secure lost items according to the specifications outlined in the standard operating procedure
• Maintain a neat and organized work area
• Maintain the integrity of Company proprietary information and protect Company assets
• Maintain complete knowledge in the use of Empower and access according to specifications

• 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
• 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.

For Employees Based In California

• 8 paid holidays per year
• Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
• Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
