Job description

This posting is for Bellhop/Bell person positions open citywide.

JOB SUMMARY:

Helps with guest baggage, while providing excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Acknowledges, greets and converses in English with customers who need assistance with their baggage.
2. Accurately delivers bags to and from guest rooms. Picks up guests' luggage upon departure and transports to form of transportation or delivers for storage.
3. Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
4. Informs guest of the Hotel's facilities and services available. Assists guest with room changes and maintains room key security.
5. Participates in maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
6. Completes required room slip information and submits to Bell Captain after each front.
7. The Bell Person will also be responsible for storage and retrieval of luggage in the luggage room as assigned by the Bell Captain.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. One year previous experience as a Bell Person is preferred.
2. Must be able to lift heavy baggage up to 80 pounds.
3. Minimum of one year customer service experience in a previous position, where the primary job duty is direct customer service, is required.
4. Must have the proven ability to provide courteous, friendly and efficient service.
5. Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
6. Must present a well-groomed appearance.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

1. Must be able to work and quickly maneuver inside and outside.
2. Must be able to work independently.
3. Must be able to stoop, bend, and lift objects that weigh up to 80 pounds.
4. Must be able to push and/or pull heavy rolling loads in excess of 300 pounds.
5. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
6. Must be able to speak English clearly.
7. Position is located in a cigarette smoke environment.
