Job description

Join to apply for the Bell Line Assembler role at Federal Signal Corporation.

Summary of Position

Perform duties to identify, select, and assemble a wide variety of electrical, electro-mechanical, and mechanical components and assemblies.

  1. Perform simple wire and soldering operations using current manufacturing processes. Must be able to perform Go/No Go tests on small lights, controls, and various other sub-assemblies/finished models.
  2. Work from drawings, blueprints, schedules, shop orders, spec sheets, process instructions, and test instructions, written or on CRT.
  3. Review production schedules and arrange for parts, materials, supplies, tooling, gauges, and other equipment to meet requirements.
  4. Requisition and store materials. Pass KanBan cards to producing departments per guidelines.
  5. Accumulate and move items between storage areas and the work cell. Fill out and submit requisitions, move tickets, finished goods tickets, and scrap tickets.
  6. Select, verify, and identify quantity of materials. Record shortages, rejected or damaged materials. Make adjustments to tools, gauges, and equipment. Conduct operational checks. Monitor work to maintain quality standards.
  7. Use hand and power tools, pallet jacks, gauges, jigs, meters, soldering irons, CRT, riveters, presses, terminating/crimping machines.
  8. Train new and existing employees in all facets of Work Cell operation.
  9. Use computer to check order and shop order statuses. Perform other duties as assigned.
  10. Test, repair, and tune regulating horns and sirens to meet standards.
  11. Receive assembled products at soundproof testing and tuning enclosure. Visually inspect for defects, connect for testing, calibrate, and adjust sound levels and frequency.
  12. Identify malfunctions, perform minor repairs, replace parts, and tag units indicating malfunctions.
  13. Stamp and record product approval, reject reasons, and recurring defects.
  14. Follow safety rules and maintain a clean work area.
  15. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education, Skills, and Work Experience

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.

Wage Range: $16.42/hr - $20.87/hr
