Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must possess a current, not expired Minnesota Teaching License.
• Must possess a valid, unexpired Traffic Safety Education certificate.
• Must possess a valid Class D Driver's License for 3 years.
• Must provide own vehicle with safety brake for Behind-the-Wheel instruction.
• Must maintain required vehicle insurance for the vehicle used for Behind-the-Wheel training.
• Must be able to work with individuals with a wide range of skills.
• Must have knowledge of the classroom curriculum for class D motor vehicles.
• Must have good organizational skills and demonstrate dependability, promptness, and punctuality.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach behind-the-wheel driver instruction to novice or beginning drivers, of all ages.
• Observe students' driving ability and provide constructive feedback to improve driving skills.
• Attend meetings, trainings, and other opportunities as scheduled to develop skills.
• Maintain communication and professional customer service toward parents, staff participants, and the general public as a representative of Elk River Community Education Driver's Education Program.
• Complete and submit required paperwork and documentation in a timely manner as assigned by the Coordinator.
• Report any concerns or problems to the Coordinator.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
